• 2012 BLACK DOG RANCH 4*
• 2013 BLACK DOG RANCH 5*
Two excellent, limited production Pinot Noirs from this Carneros producer. The 2012 is a supple, moderately rich wine of fine quality. It is smooth and long on the palate, with aromas/flavors reminiscent of kola nut, cherry, raspberry, mint, and oak. Aged 11 months in French oak barrels. 365 cases. 14.4% The 2013 is better still: an exceptional Pinot Noir that is full bodied, finely flavored, and concentrated, with good character and balance, and a very long finish, tasting of raspberry, clove, red currant, toast, spicy oak, plum, and red licorice. Can be aged a bit. 200 cases. 14.8% [2016-2018].”
